Being born in Listerlandet in Eastern Sweden, the heart of the Swedish mink farming community, I have always felt close to animal agriculture even when I decided to start my own career in a more urban environment. I am educated as a journalist and have a 12 year long career behind me as journalist and editor in Swedish media. Today, I am the Managing Director of the Swedish Fur Breeder’s Association, and I also represent the Swedish fur trade in the International Fur TRade Federation.

Communication in a joint position between the International Fur Trade Federation’s Europe region and the European Fur Breeders’ Association.

A journalist of education I had my first job in the fur sector in 2004. In between then and now I have worked at independent journalistic media, but there were no doubt in my mind when I had the opportunity to return to the fur industry in 2008. The passion for fur amongst farmers and designers, the global scope of the industry, the communicative challenge and the fundamental ethical discussion underneath the fur debate are great motivations for me.

Today I live in Brussels, where I work as Head of Communication in a joint position between the International Fur Trade Federation’s Europe region and the European Fur Breeders’ Association.

Mille Merrild (1988)

I grew up on a farm in West Denmark with mink and broiler chickens as main produce. After high school, I worked for a year at my parents fur farms, which taught me to appreciate and respect the animals and the use of them. Educated within communication and always with a great interest in societal matters and politics, my passion for the fur industry was natural as the industry is much discussed in media. My motivation and dedication to fur farming is fueled by the criticism as my main belief is that human beings should not go against history of mankind and that as long as the use of animals is respectful and considerate, the end use is less relevant.

Today, I live in Brussels where I work in communication for the European Fur Breeders’ Association (EFBA).
